Crowns are restorations used when teeth cannot be treated with simple fillings. They cover the entire tooth and can be of several kinds, for example porcelain, porcelain combined with metal, full metal. They durable, however they eventually need replacement.
What does getting a crown involve?
First the area where you will receive treatment for a crown gets numb. Then your tooth is prepared (ground) and a mold of the tooth is taken. After the crown is fabricated in a dental laboratory it is cemented over your prepared tooth and the result is a very natural look.
If the procedure is performed using Computerized Technology - CEREC- then the porcelain crown is fabricated with the computer in our office and is bonded to your tooth right after its fabrication is finished.
